Welcome to the website where African Wildlife photographs can be purchased online. You will find a large selection
of Elephant photos, predators (including lion, cheetah, jackal and hyena), also birds of brey (including vultures and eagles) both black and white, sepia tint and in full colour.
My name is Gerhard du Toit and I am a photographer specializing in African wildlife and nature photography. For many years I have been fascinated by photography and by Nature, both combined in a rush of passion, which I hope to share with you.
For those loyal supporters that’s been in out of this site for the last year or so, A VERY BIG THANK YOU, also for all the suggestions and purchases made, it’s due to your support that this site will continue to prosper and provide you with the very best in wildlife photo’s and prints. The first change you will see is that we have introduced ‘subscribers’ to this website. It’s FREE of charge, entitles you to FREE downloads and a newsletter each time website updated (just so you are the first to know as to what’s happening)
My equipment has been upgraded (THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN FOR SUPPORTING THIS SITE) with all photo’s for prints and limited edition prints being taken digitally in RAW, effectively allowing higher volumes of digital information and greater flexibility during the digital darkroom processing. You will note the intensity of the photographs, the vibrant colour and the absolute detailed contained in each wildlife photo on sample.
The last year has been incredible, with two visits to the Kruger National Parks , one visit to Mabula Game Lodge, 8 visits to Addo National Elephant park, 3 visits to Pilanesberg National Park (not too successful mind you) a visit to Wilshutsberg Game Reserve and even popping into Mountain Zebra National Park. I trust that I will be able to share some of those very special moments with each one of you.
Initially this site started of as an Elephant website, but with the exposure over the last 18 months I feel it unfair to let the spotlight shine only on this one magnificent animal, there are still a few animals found in the African Bushveld not found on this site, and my aim is to, over time of course, present as many of these elusive animals as possible to you.
The Big 5 terminology refers to Elephants, Rhino, Buffalo, Lion and Leopard, but they receive their Big 5 Status not from their size but from the fact that they are the 5 most dangerous animals if wounded while being hunted. They often turn back in their tracks and lay in wait for their pursuing hunters.
I have to list a number of people without whom this site would not have been possible:-
Firstly to Lee (my Baby), you’ve been my inspiration and the love of my life for as long as I care to remember, all the nights alone and yet you encourage me to follow my dreams. In all that I do you are always there beside me, your understanding of me needs to be applauded. Trust your artistic abilities as I do, and always remain as true to your inner child. There can be only one for me, and that one is you
Secondly to Gavin, we’ve been best friends for ages and we’ve been through a lot together. You first introduced me to the bush and for that I will be forever thankfull. Your knowledge and expertise of how the bush works, and for me not to forget the little things, has gone a long way in helping me understand and appreciate the wonderful journey I’ve embarked upon. 'DON’T KILL THE ANIMALS’
To Frikkie and Arlien, an old friendship rekindled in an instant. You have been the most gracious hosts imaginable, always going out of your way to make every moment even more special for Lee and I. Frikkie, your own photography has grown with each photograph taken, stick with it and you’ll be famous in no time. And Arlien, amzing how you can create even more opportunities to get us closer to nature, leaving with you to drop Lolla off at 5am in the winter? You Rock!
To Peter and Thea, you met us once and opened up your home to us, you’ve been fantastic and we appreciate every moment we get to spend with you. Peter, your knowledge of birds and bird species is unsurpassed, we need a couple of braai’s (barbeques) before I can even begin to comprehend what you’re on about, and Thea, watching you, my Baby and Arlien together is and experience each and every time
Pieter and Mariana, (mom and dad) who ever knew it would grow to this? Thank for your love and support throughout all these years, you’ve always trusted me to make my own decision (with a little nudge here and there of course). We all love you dearly.
Then to Ansie, your belief in our capabilities is astounding, your unselfishness should be legendary, and who else better to entertain Solo when we’re in the bush? Thank you Thank you Thank you
Lastly to Deon and Riaan from o5webdesign, you’ve put this together as no one else could, and you delivered so much more than promised, you guys are the Best!
So please enjoy your African Wildlife journey through this website and mail me should you have any questions.
All images presented are of free roaming animals in the wild, unless expressly marked otherwise.
